  WHAT The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is the premier investigating agency of India. Operating under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions(India), Originally set up to investigate bribery and governmental corruption. Its conviction rate is as high as 65 to 70% and it is comparable to the best investigation agencies in the world.                                                     WHAT The Indian government introduced the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) in 1964. The commission was set up on the recommendation of K.Santhanam Committee on Prevention of Corruption. It was originally introduced through an executive resolution. The Central Vigilance Committee’s role is to advise and guide the Central Government in the field of surveillance.  WHO  CVC is called the apex vigilance institution. It is free of control from any executive authority.   WHAT Atmanirbhar Bharat Programme: The programme was launched by the Prime Minister in May 2020 with an economic stimulus package - worth Rs 20 lakh crores aimed towards achieving self-reliance. The announced economic package was 10% of India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2019-20.
